About Susmaterials: A Supplier Built Around Lower-Impact Materials
Susmaterials is a B2B supplier of sustainable leather alternatives and eco textiles. We exist to make lower-impact material sourcing as reliable as conventional sourcing: one partner, a curated range, consistent quality and clear documentation. Brands come to us when they want to move away from conventional leather and virgin synthetics without taking on supply-chain risk alone.

What We Do
We source, evaluate and supply plant-based leather alternatives — including Cactus Leather, Apple Leather and Pineapple Leaf Leather — alongside eco textiles such as Recycled Polyester (rPET) and Organic Cotton. Beyond supply, we advise on material selection, application fit and certification pathways so your team can make confident decisions early in development.
Our Story
Susmaterials grew out of more than a decade spent inside the materials trade. Our founder is a Hong Kong sourcing specialist with over twenty years in textiles, leather and their alternatives — the kind of experience that comes from walking factory floors, reading test reports and learning, batch by batch, what actually holds up in production. As lower-impact materials moved from a niche request to a mainstream brief, one thing became clear: no single mill makes everything a modern brand needs, and most teams do not have the time to vet a fragmented, fast-moving market on their own.
So we built susmaterials as a trade and sourcing partner rather than a single factory. We sit between brands and a curated network of material makers, matching the right input to the right product and handling the parts that slow teams down — shortlisting, swatching, certification documentation and bulk coordination. We earn our place by knowing the field, not by pushing one line.
A Hong Kong materials specialist, 20+ years in the field
Our founder has spent over two decades sourcing textiles and leather alternatives out of Hong Kong — a hands-on background in quality, certification and supply that informs every material we choose to represent.
Where We Are
We are based in Hong Kong — a practical hub for sourcing across the wider manufacturing region, close to the makers and logistics our buyers rely on.

How We Select Materials
Every material in our range passes through the same selection logic before we offer it:
- Lower-impact by design. Recycled content, plant-based inputs or reduced-footprint processing must be verifiable, not just claimed.
- Production-ready quality. Consistent batches, workable hand-feel and performance suitable for real manufacturing lines.
- Traceability. We map where and how each material is made, and we share that picture with qualified buyers on request.
- Honest application boundaries. If a material is not right for your product, we say so and suggest a better fit.
Our Actions for a Lower-Impact Industry
The materials industry is not sustainable yet — and we won't pretend otherwise. What we can do is make every sourcing decision a step in the right direction. That is the standard we hold our own range to, and the reason brands choose to source through us rather than navigate an unvetted market alone.
- We vet before we offer. Every material in our portfolio is assessed for verifiable claims and workable quality before it reaches a buyer — we would rather drop a material than oversell it.
- We prioritise lower-impact processes over marketing claims. Recycled content, plant-based inputs and reduced-footprint processing have to stand up to documentation, not just sound good on a label.
- We put physical sampling before any commitment. Brands decide with the material in their hands — swatches and sample yardage first, so the choice is made on evidence, not on a promise.
- We keep documentation honest and available. Certification and traceability information is shared directly with qualified buyers on request, and we say plainly when a claim cannot yet be backed.
- We name the limits. If a material is wrong for an application — or if the wider supply chain is not there yet — we tell you, and point to a better fit.
We are not there yet, and neither is the industry. But this is the direction we are building in — and we would rather be honest about the distance than loud about the destination.
If that sounds like the kind of partner you want to source with, talk to a materials specialist.
Who We Serve
We work with fashion and accessories labels, footwear brands, bag and small-leather-goods makers, home and lifestyle brands, and product studios developing on behalf of clients. Our model supports both emerging labels building a first collection and established brands transitioning existing lines to lower-impact materials.
How We Work Together
- 1. Sourcing conversation. You tell us the product, target hand-feel and performance needs; we shortlist matching materials.
- 2. Swatches. We send swatch cards so your team can evaluate colour, texture and finish in hand.
- 3. Sampling. Sample yardage for prototyping, with fast turnaround and technical support during development.
- 4. Bulk supply. Production quantities with flexible minimums, batch consistency checks and documentation as agreed.
Our Position on Certifications
We work with recognised systems including GRS, GOTS, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, SGS third-party testing and EU REACH compliance. We do not publish certificates publicly; relevant documentation is available on request to qualified buyers as part of the sourcing process. Read more about the certifications we support.
