How Is Hemp Fabric Made?
Hemp stalks are retted to loosen the bast fibre, then broken and scutched to separate fibre from the woody core. The fibre is spun into yarn — often blended with cotton or other fibres for handle — and woven into fabric, then finished. The crop’s speed and low input needs make it an efficient fibre source.
